Internships/Career and Academic Supports Coordinator
This position coordinates activities and services related to career, and academic support in the Student Success Center (SSC). Primary duties involve developing and placing student with internships, supervising peer tutors, providing academic workshops, offering career-based workshops, and directly helping students with supplemental academic advising and career supports.  Additional responsibilities include managing scheduled appointments, correspondence, maintaining student files/database, and assisting with the student intake process, proctoring exams, and office management, including supervision of student office employees and academic tutors.

Qualifications of the Internships/Career and Academic Supports Coordinator:
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in Career Development, Psychology, Education, Business, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of one-year supervisory experience preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software (E.G. Word, Excel, etc.) 
  • Strong leadership and communication skills and the ability and willingness to work in a team-oriented culture
Wages:
$18.00-$22.00 an hour depending on experience
Hours:
Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm

  • Support the overflow needs of other departments within the respective university area
  • Perform other duties in accordance with this position as deemed necessary by the immediate supervisor
Essential Functions of the Internships/Career and Academic Supports Coordinator:

Career 
  1. Network with local and regional businesses for job and internship placement opportunities.
  2. Update and maintain relevant resources to maximize student utilization (I.E. digital, social media, applications, etc.).
  3. Maintain updated job postings, both physical and website, as well as other digital outreach opportunities.
  4. Plan and execute a career fair, or “mini-fairs”, throughout the school year.
  5. Act as liaison between employers and University professors to create career/internship connections and opportunities.
  6. Develop and upgrade the Career Services website, as needed.
  7. Utilize all relevant forms of social media, both for outreach as well as for the instruction of students related to professional networking and to understand how employers use social media to screen candidates during the job recruitment process.
  8. Work with alumni relations to gather data about alumni career placement.

Academic
  1. Oversee the academic support program for all students
  2. Collaborate with the Registrar’s office to provide supplemental academic advising
  3. Work with Associate Dean to provide oversight for Provisional students and students on Academic Status
  4. Maintain consistent communication with the Associate Dean of Student Services surrounding student concerns
  5. Support the Associate Dean in the management of the academic mentoring program
  6. Oversee record keeping of all aspects of the tutoring program; maintain student files, records, and databases; and collect assessment information for data collection and reports
  7. Manage the academic referral program communication with students and faculty via the CARE report system
