Local scientific equipment manufacturing company is seeking their next Warehouse Clerk to join their Shipping and Receiving team. This person will be trained initially on Shipping and Pre-Pack duties, but may also be assigned various duties throughout the Warehouse as needed to ensure the best service and support to both internal and external customers. This position reports to the Warehouse Leads, and the Operations Manager. 
  • A minimum of a high school diploma is required.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years prior related experience is required; preferably in a warehouse or production environment. 
  • Prior Shipping experience is required. International shipping experience is ideal. 
  • Must be proficient on computers and able to type. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office – Word, Outlook, and Excel.  
  • Experience with MRP/ERP system is a plus. 
  • Must have excellent attention to detail, especially with number sequences. 
  • Must be able to learn tasks quickly, and keep up in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Must have good communication skills, both verbally and in writing. Must write legibly.  
  • Must have good math skills, and the ability to problem-solve and make good judgment calls. 
  • Excellent organizational skills. Must be neat and clean in work habits.
  • Must be able to handle small items with dexterity and count accurately. 
  • Must be able to use a precision scale.  
  • Must be able to conform to company policies and procedures. 
  • Must be dependable and have a strong work ethic.
  • Facilitate the shipping of product orders to ensure timely and successful delivery.  
  • Determine shipping method for materials using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates. 
  • Process Hazardous Materials to comply with requirements. 
  • Properly pack, seal, and label boxes to prepare for shipping.   
  • Utilize shipping software to compute shipping rates, based on size, weight, contents, hazardous goods, etc. Produce shipping labels and affix them properly to each shipment. 
  • Ensure packages are picked up by UPS, Fed Ex, or other shipping company. 
  • Responsible for the cleanliness of the shipping area. 
  • Accurately count, weigh or measure bulk products into smaller volumes for inventory needs.  
  • Repackage present stock into smaller or larger sizes to meet order requests as needed.
  • Pre-pack some items for appearance and safety sake.   
  • Select the proper packing materials for preparing stock; bags, tubes, boxes, etc.
  • Produce proper labels for products on the computer.
  • Fill out inventory report on products produced in Pre-pack each day and turn into Warehouse management.
  • Maintain and keep current all Pre-pack production cards that describe packing procedures.
  • Responsible for notifying Purchasing when pre-packing materials are low and need to be ordered.
  • Responsible for all equipment in the pre-pack room, scales, sealers, etc.
  • Responsible for stocking supplies needed in the pre-pack area.
  • Responsible for maintaining a neat and organized work area. 
General duties
  • Perform backup duties whenever needed in pre-pack and order pulling.
  • Ensure a neat and organized warehouse at all times.   
  • Work with customer services, sales, and other staff to resolve issues that arise. 
  • Assist with any special projects or duties as needed.
Starting pay rate is $16-17 per hour to start, or commensurate with experience. This position offers medical, dental, life insurance, paid sick time, paid holiday, paid vacation days, and a 401(k) plan with Company match after 1 year.    
Monday through Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm
