Medical Scribe 
The primary goal of a Medical Scribe document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician. The scribe is to insure that all required Meaningful Use and PQRS Measures are documented accurately in eligible patient’s charts.  They are to assist the Medical Assistant in keeping the flow of the back office running smoothly
                                                         
Medical Scribe Responsibilities:
  • Documenting Patient Physical exam, procedures & treatments performed by healthcare professionals
  • Documenting Patient education and explanations of risks and benefits. 
  • Documenting Physician-dictated diagnoses, prescriptions and instructions for patient or family members for self-care and follow-up 
  • Assisting the physician in medical procedures
  • Caring for patients after laser procedures (checking on and icing)
  • Appling Vaseline on patients that have had a chemical peel
  • Accurate use of ICD-10 Assessment codes and CPT codes
  • Sending E-Scribe prescriptions
  • Reviewing Pathology Order and matching it with the correct patient
  • Making sure biopsy samples are put into the outgoing box at the end of the day
  • Changing bleach-water bottles every Monday and Wednesday, and Soap and water bottle once a month
  • Rooming patients
  • Taking out trash
  • Putting away stock
  • Calling Patients for appointment reminders
  • Taking out Recycling
Medical Scribe Benefits:
$16-$19/hr
Medical Scribe Daily Priorities:
  • Following the doctor into the room
  • Entering in RX’s to be sent in for Patients
  • Entering in Path notes so that path can be sent out that day.
  • Finishing up all scribing from that day (if needed this can wait until the following day)
