Local construction company located in Redding is looking for their next grader operator. The ideal candidates should be experienced in grade setting and heavy equipment. This company specializes in residential & commercial site work, erosion control, demolition and more! Full-benefit package available after probationary period.

Requirements of the Grader Operator

  • MUST have at least 2 years of Grade Setting/ Excavation experience
  • Reads and understands blueprints, sketches, building plans, and drawings.
  • Sets grade stakes to guide earth moving equipment operators in sloping roads and fill embankments, using measuring instruments and hand tools
  • Reads survey stakes along right-of-way to determine grade specification for embankments.
  • Measures horizontally and vertically, in specified ratio, from survey stake to juncture of embankment and initial excavation, using survey rod and eye level.
  • Sets grade stakes and chalk-marks excavation reference points on stake.
  • Repeats measuring and staking at specified intervals to form horizontal stake line.
  • Observes excavating activities to verify conformance to stake references and notifies equipment operators or supervisor of deviations.
  • Meet production and scheduling demands
  • Communicate with Foreman and other crew members
  • Operate safely in close quarters and around all types of utilities
  • Inspect and maintain equipment—report defects immediately
  • Ensure that crews comply with site rules and regulations
