Description
This position is part of a team responsible for coordinating the processing of all financial aid related documents and the awarding of financial aid. Primary duties involve organizing, entering and tracking all financial aid documents; prepare, budget, and submit student files for awarding, ensuring all eligibility requirements are met; package and award financial aid consistent with Simpson University policies and regulatory requirements. This position will also oversee a primary area of processing which may include: student loans, student communication, or verification. Secondary duties involve financial affairs support in the areas of accounting, finance and financial aid processing and reporting activities, periodic file reviews, and related customer service.   
Qualifications: 
  1. Bachelor’s degree required 
  2. Knowledge of student financial aid programs or equivalent experience desirable 
  3. Experience with student information systems such as Ellucian Colleague desirable 
  4. Highly proficient in MS Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Access, etc.) 
  5. Self-starter, highly motivated, team player, and well-organized 
  6. Excellent organizational and administrative abilities, including demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks effectively 
  7. Highly professional in integrity and demeanor

     Essential Functions: 
  16. Process financial aid documents and records, prepares student financial aid files for awarding, including budget calculations and resolution of financial aid eligibility issues, assists in the creation of award letters 
  17. Assist in packaging and awarding financial aid 
  18. Review federal and state financial aid fund usage to assist in awarding of students 
  19. Oversee a primary area of processing, as required, which may include: student loans, student communication, or verification  
  20. Oversee outgoing and incoming communications requesting additional financial aid documentation  
  21. Organize, track, and monitor student financial aid file status throughout the awarding process, including data integrity reviews 
  22. Generate and review related reports on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis, as required 
  23. Assist Associate Director of Financial Aid as required, including financial aid awarding/processing, research and reporting issues, and maintenance of files consistent with appropriate internal control and record keeping requirements 
  24. Communicate with students and parents, as needed, regarding complex financial aid situations

  25. Assist with the development of enhanced communication strategies 
  26. Support enrollment and retention efforts in the areas of financial aid processing, reporting activities, and related customer service
