A welcoming and inclusive spiritual community is looking for a full charge bookkeeper (through financials) with several years of experience, non-profit fund accounting preferred. A strong background and education in accounting are optimal. Working with volunteers is a plus. Position reports to the Senior Minister. Assists in the development and implementation of goals, policies, priorities, and procedures related to financial management, budget, accounting, and payroll. 
Requirements of the Full Charge Bookkeeper:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required
  • Works well in a team environment, communicates effectively, establishes and maintains good relationships with staff, community members, vendors, volunteers, and agency officials
  • Works to support the Center’s goals and objectives. Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Willing to learn PowerChurch software.
  • Has understanding of fund accounting.
  • Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Being self-sufficient, having initiative, and being a fast learner are very helpful.
Benefits of the Full Charge Bookkeeper:
$17.00-$20.00 an hour, depending on experience
This position is a part-time position with flexible hours up to a maximum of 32 hours per week.
Responsibilities of the Full Charge Bookkeeper:
  • Preparing monthly financial statements and auditing all accounts for financial reporting
  • Preparing weekly cash flow reports
  • Knowledgeable and experienced with all aspects of payroll processing, including all federal and state monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting
  • Tracking all vendor payments in preparation for submitting annual 1099-Misc and 1099-Interest forms as well as W-2 forms
  • Prepare California Sales Tax returns. Perform necessary monthly/quarterly/annual audits
  • Provide oversight to employee and vendor records
  • This position plays a key role in the budgeting and planning process and the close monitoring of income and expenses as related to the budget
  • Other duties as assigned
