SUMMARY

Local irrigation district is seeking a General Manager to join their team. This is a full time, long term opportunity.

COMPENSATION

$70,000-90,000 annually, DOE + benefits to include medical, vacation, 401k, and sick leave

DUTIES for General Manager

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate services, activities, and operations of all facilities, equipment, and projects
  • Manage the hiring, training, and supervision of entire staff
  • Coordinate activities with all regulatory agencies
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws
  • Prepare, evaluate, and implement the budget
  • Develop short and long term financial strategies
  • Provide legislative direction/advice to board
  • Work with board to develop strategies
  • Implement board policies and directives and communicate them to the public
  • Serve as principle spokesperson for the agency; represent at public and professional functions; oversee public information and public education program; coordinate media relations
  • Monitor agency infrastructure and rehabilitation; ensure maintenance of records
  • Develop, implement, and monitor programs/projects for newsletter, customer service surveys, benchmarking studies, and disaster recovery
  • Write, publish, and circulate customer service surveys; work with staff to resolve customer complaints
  • Manage contractors and consultants to ensure agency standards, policies, and directives are maintained
  • Complete additional duties and/or tasks as needed

QUALIFICATIONS for General Manager

  • Must possess valid California Driver’s License and Clean driving record
  • A minimum of 5 years of management experience
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with diverse individuals and with large groups of people with conflicting interests
  • Ability to resolve conflicts
  • Ability to plan, organize, schedule, and coordinate activities and set priorities under changing conditions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with board members, employees, officials, and the general public
  • Ability to supervise, motivate, inspect, and evaluate the work of employees and outside contractors
  • Must be skilled in water resource and conservation management
  • Must be skilled in negotiating
  • Must be skilled in verbal and written communication
  • Must possess knowledge of agricultural industry
  • Must possess knowledge of Budget development, analysis, and financial analysis including long-range planning
  • Must possess knowledge of Regulatory and legal requirements of an agency
  • Must possess knowledge of Grant writing and other potential funding avenues
  • Must possess knowledge of Interrelationship between water and land use decisions
  • Must possess knowledge of Technology related to water resource and business management
  • Must possess knowledge of Water contract negotiations
  • Must possess knowledge of Mathematics, science, and chemistry
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or similar discipline preferred

Please note: at certain times of the year, mostly during the irrigation season, the General Manager may be required to be out in the field at least 50% of the time.
