The Land Survey Mapping Specialist I is a full-time position that provides support to land surveyors and others by performing basic to intermediate technical drafting and mapping using Civil 3D 2017 software, under the direction of a registered professional land surveyor. Incumbents are expected to maintain satisfactory progress in learning through on-the-job training to increase drafting and mapping abilities to an advanced level. Typical projects include but are not limited to; urban and rural topographic mapping, urban and rural boundary mapping, ALTA surveys, subdivision mapping, FEMA elevation certificates and construction staking. Successful Land Survey Mapping Specialists will interact well with internal company departments; Civil, Land Use Planning, Landscape Architecture, and Administration as well as outside owners, developers, architects, contractors and regulatory personnel.
Salary is based on qualifications. Total compensation includes salary + $896 per month cafeteria (insurance) allowance; 7 paid holidays per year; 17 days paid time off per year and up to 5% 401(k) match.
DUTIES for Land Survey Mapping Specialist
The position of a Land Survey Mapping Specialist I regularly works in the office but is also required to drive to various work sites as needed. Therefore, it is required to possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license and meet the prerequisites of our insurance agency for driving company vehicles. Possession of Land Surveyor in Training Certificate is preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS for Land Survey Mapping Specialist
Incumbent must consistently demonstrate strong work ethic, knowledge of land surveying principals, proficiency in Civil 3D 2017 mapping, initiative and accuracy. Must exhibit qualities of honesty and loyalty and be able to learn new skills with minimal direction. Possess and utilize superior clerical, mechanical and numerical abilities and demonstrate the ability to conceptualize in three dimensions. Effectively communicate in English demonstrating proficiency in both verbal and written form. Knowledge of and ability to apply the “Rules of Public Lands Surveys” is required. Company is a high-energy, fast-paced engineering and land surveying office fully automated with civil engineering, land surveying, land use planning and landscape architecture capabilities. The ability to meet multiple project deadlines and desire to work on a wide array of projects in a dynamic team atmosphere is critical. Any combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, abilities and distinguishing characteristics is qualifying. Typical education would include an associate of arts degree in civil engineering or land surveying technology and two years of experience in the land surveying/mapping field. Experience with AutoCAD and field surveying with modern equipment are required. Experience with Civil 3D 2017 is desired.
