O2 Employment Services, Northern California’s leader in staffing and recruitment, is working with a local nonprofit to find an EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR. This position will be 30-40 hours/week, long term opportunity located in Redding, CA.

About the nonprofit:

The organization is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization that procures private funds to provide critical support to literacy resources in Redding, Burney, and Anderson resulting in free programs and services available to the adults, children, and youth in Shasta County. Through fundraising, advocacy, and innovative programs, the nonprofit strengthens the literacy resources and enhances high caliber programs that nurture literacy, imagination, and lifelong learning.


  • A bachelor’s degree – or equivalent experience
  • Nonprofit experience preferred
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors
  • Ability to envision and convey the organization’s strategic future to the staff, board, volunteers, and donors
  • A history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results
  • Active fundraising experience
  • Excellent donor relations skills and understanding of the funding community
  • Knowledge and understanding of the cultural, political, business and philanthropic history of Shasta County or the capacity to quickly familiarize or acquire this knowledge


  • $50,000 for a 30 hour/week commitment
  • $60,000 for a 40 hour/week commitment


Primary responsibilities:

  • Ensure the success of the nonprofit’s annual fundraising event
  • Grow and sustain the Board of Directors membership
  • Identify and develop major donors
  • Driving the Foundation’s communication to stakeholders

Position Summary:

The Executive Director is the Chief Administrator, spokesperson, and fundraiser for the nonprofit. The Executive Director coordinates the activities of the Board of Directors and its committees, as well as all fundraising activities which provide current and long-term support for the organization’s needs. This position also aids in the continuation of growth for the nonprofit Endowment. The Director will have an overall strategic and operational responsibility for the programs, expansion, and execution of its mission as well as the overall running of all areas surrounding the Foundation such as finance and administration, fundraising, communications, and systems.

General responsibilities include: 

  • Development and Fundraising: This position is responsible for the growth of funding of the nonprofit’s Endowment
  • Maintaining Organizational Structure: This position is responsible for the overall organizational integrity, management, and structure of the Foundation
  • Communications: This position is responsible for all communications surrounding the Foundation, as well as press releases, media presentations, and other initiatives that represent the purpose and perspective of the Foundation
  • Reporting to the Board of Directors: This position reports to the Board of Directors who govern the Foundation
